Voyages of Light

An unofficial fanzine focusing on the various realms in Sky: Children of the Light.

Information

Voyage of Light is an unofficial, art-focused fanzine centered around showcasing the various landscapes of Sky: Children of the Light. We are currently working on Volume II, in which we hope to showcase more of the seasonal and social areas within the game.Volume I is available to the public, and can be found here. What does this mean?
We hope to feature 6 illustrations for each of the main realms. 3 of these will be landscape while the other 3 is the artist choice between either a character or landscape illustration. Of the 3 landscape pieces, at least 1 of them will be focusing on a seasonal or social area.
Home hub will also be included this time, having 1 landscape piece and 1 character piece.
Eden and Orbit will be also combined, featuring 2 landscape pieces and 2 character pieces. The Season of Shattering will be included with this realm.
What is the difference between landscape and character art?
Landscape art aims to focus on the scenery of Sky with little to no showings of spirits or Sky kids.
Character art meanwhile focuses on the Sky kids and/or spirits, and their interactions.

FAQ

What is a zine?
A zine is an indie mini magazine full of art and short stories under a specific theme, idea, or concept.
Will this zine be physical?
Due to TGC's TOS, we will be limited to a free digital release.
How many contributors will be accepted?
Currently, we have decided on 42 page artists (21 landscape artists at the very least) and one cover artist.
Is this zine limited to canon?
To a certain extent. We ask that artists not deviate from the canon elements of the realm they choose. However, artistic liberties are fine.
Can I have a Sky Kid in my piece if I'm doing landscape?
Yes! We just ask that the background be a majority of the piece - it doesn't have to be the focus, but it does need to be a main portion of the artwork.
Will you be accepting cosplayers or writers?
No, we are limiting this zine to art only.
What are the requirements for this zine?
We ask that all applicants be over the age of 13 at the time of applying. All illustrations for the zine will be in A3 spread format, and as this zine focuses on landscapes, we ask applicants to include at least one background work in their portfolio. We also ban usage of AI art, tracing, or stealing of any kind.
Will you be having guest contributors?
Yes, we will have returning guests from Vol I. If you have a recommendation for a guest artist, please shoot us a DM or email!
Will there be spoilers in the zine?
Yes, there will be spoilers for the entire game, including Eden and Orbit.
Will you be accepting pinch hitters?
Yes! We will set aside several applicants who, due to our contributor numbers, may not have been accepted but we would still love to have them. In that case, their email will contain a request for a follow-up to make sure that they are still interested in pinch hitting. After that, we will contact them if they are needed.
Will you be sending out rejection emails?
Yes! However if you do not wish to receive this email you can indicate as much in your application.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via DM or email!
